Tomorrow, I make a presentation/lead a discussion on asexuality at my former school’s QUILTBAG group meeting.
Then I present (A)sexuality at a viewing hosted by said QUILTBAG group. We’ve invited people from another school as well. Hopefully some of them show up.
THEN I lead a Q&A panel with two to three other ace-spectrum folks. Hopefully the one from out of town makes it, I haven’t heard back from her in a while.
AND THEN NEXT FRIDAY I round all this off with a discussion/presentation on aromanticality (I made that up, seriously, what’s the proper usage there?) to that same QUILTBAG group.
I’m really proud of them, the QUILTBAGers (or bagels, as I fondly don’t tell them I refer to them as). When we dreamed up the group we saddled it with the longest, most complicated acronym/title ever, A QUILTBAG APP, and it is an amazingly accepting, friendly, eager group that genuinely wants to hang out and learn and discuss and… make the occasional quilt. Ah, art schools.
On another note, thank heavens I’m no longer one of the moderators, I think it tripled in size since last year. They’re going to need a different room next year, if this keeps up. And how on EARTH did I end up doing in charge, presentationing, speakifying… stuff despite no longer being at that school? How did I sign up for public speaking gigs at all, actually? It’s terrifying, I’m horrible at it, it’s on my list of ‘Hawky can’t do this, don’t make her, she’ll turn red, stammer, and say weird things, no matter how prepared she is.’ I mean. I know I’m over-prepared for tomorrow, but I’m not really prepared at all. I’m like a flustered Reid, all information and statistics, no traceable structure. LAST MINUTE ADVICE?!
